RE

Our intention is to deliver a high-quality, broad and balanced Religious Education curriculum, which is underpinned by our school values and focused on preparing our pupils for life in modern Britain and a religiously diverse world.

Our RE curriculum plays a vital role in promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, by inspiring a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world and fostering the values of respect, empathy and tolerance.

We teach about the beliefs, practices and traditions of the six major world religions - Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism - and about the philosophy of Humanism and other non-religious worldviews.

We follow an enquiry-based approach which teaches the key skills of reflection and evaluation in order to help our pupils to answer challenging key questions. We provide a safe environment for pupils to engage confidently, constructively and reflectively with religions and worldviews and to make connections between them.

We provide our pupils and their families with the opportunity to share their own beliefs, traditions and experiences, in order to develop a sense of belonging, inclusion and community. We ensure that our teaching reflects key historic and contemporary developments, both locally and globally.
