We go to the library on Fridays; please remember to bring your library book back so you can change it!

Remember you can change your reading book as often as you need to!

2018-2019

14th September

We've had another great week in Maple Class!

On Monday we learnt about how the Great Fire of London spread so quickly when we had our own 'great fire' on the playground.  It was dry and windy, just like in 1666, so the fire spread quickly from house to house.  Luckily for us, 2 buckets of water was enough to extinguish the flames! The people in 1666 weren't so lucky and the fire burnt for five days!

7th September-Welcome Back!

What a brilliant start to the new school year we have had in Maple Class this week! Mrs Morris, Mrs Leadbeater and Mrs Metcalfe have all been so impressed by the positive attitudes, excellent behaviour and  hard work we have seen this week- what a lot of marvellous Maples we have!

Highlights of our week have included a Gruffalo hunt around the village, finding out about The Great Fire of London and how it started, making our own Tudor houses to create our own 1666 mini-London, and some amazing 2D and 3D shape work.  We can't wait to carry on learning about these things next week!

In this week's Topic lesson we went on a walk around Broughton to look for human and physical features. We then made our own maps.

This afternoon we meet 4 lovely guide dogs! We learnt about how they are trained and how they can help people with visual impairments. Did you know it takes 18 months to train a guide dog? One of the dogs we met, Peg, has had 30 puppies and almost all of those are now being trained to be guide dogs!
