We enjoyed visiting the allotment today. We looked for fruits and vegetables growing and found out about the wild animals who visit there- rabbits, foxes, and badgers- just like in Mr McGregor’s garden! When we returned to school, we had a selection of Mr McGregor’s finest vegetables to enjoy…although Peter Rabbit had got there first and nibbled our cucumber! It turns out Maple Class really like radishes! We also tried camomile tea which we all enjoyed, just like Peter!
We've had another great week in Maple Class!
On Monday we learnt about how the Great Fire of London spread so quickly when we had our own 'great fire' on the playground. It was dry and windy, just like in 1666, so the fire spread quickly from house to house. Luckily for us, 2 buckets of water was enough to extinguish the flames! The people in 1666 weren't so lucky and the fire burnt for five days!
7th September-Welcome Back!
What a brilliant start to the new school year we have had in Maple Class this week! Mrs Morris, Mrs Leadbeater and Mrs Metcalfe have all been so impressed by the positive attitudes, excellent behaviour and hard work we have seen this week- what a lot of marvellous Maples we have!
Highlights of our week have included a Gruffalo hunt around the village, finding out about The Great Fire of London and how it started, making our own Tudor houses to create our own 1666 mini-London, and some amazing 2D and 3D shape work. We can't wait to carry on learning about these things next week!
