Welcome to Firefly Class!
Mr Braithwaite teaches Firefly class. Mrs Smith and Mrs Kettleborough support in Year 5.
2017 - 2018
So far, Fireflies have learned about Plate Tectonics and Volcanoes. We went on an adventure into different types of volcanoes using our Virtual Reality equipment, and this week we have written a newsletter to our village to explain the warning signs of a volcano erupting, and how to survive if one did erupt!
In English, we have been reading 'The Last Wild' by Piers Torday. Kester Jaynes, a skinny 12-year-old boy who is unable to speak, has been recruited by a group of talking cockroaches and pigeons to help them save the animals. Next week, we will start writing the next part of the story, taking into account the author's style of writing.
In Maths, we have started learning about Fractions, including finding fractions of amounts. We have also looked at finding equivalent fractions, and comparing and ordering fractions with the same denominator, and denominators that are multiples of each other.
P.E. and Library Days
Firefly class has P.E. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please remember your FULL P.E. kit on these days, including your navy bottoms, white shirt and shoes. We will be outside for PE until October half term.
We will be going to the library on Mondays.
